One of the better volumes in the Zachary Johnson series. This one shows real "heart." The story revolves around a young woman who has been bioengineered as a weapon. When she wants to--and sometimes even when she doesn't--her body emits "death rays" that kill anyone around her. She didn't ask to be the way she is and she just wants to be left alone but now Zach has to destroy her--or die trying.

The Flaxen Femme Fatale John Zakour 9780756405199 Books Reviews

It seems to me that Zakour has honestly no idea what made the first few books in this series funny, and that Graham was the one who was actually focussing and channeling everything that Zakour said into something usable. What's left over without Graham is a bunch of juvenielle, sophmoric humour that wouldn't have ever been published if the first ones weren't written. Zakour seriously needs to stop tarnishing what was a good, if not great, series of books and just let it be.
I've read every one of the books in this series. I'm a computer guy and love the nerdy speak, but when you mix it with a joking AI and a hard boiled PI that just makes it awesome.

These books are for anyone that likes to read a PI book with plenty of action, lots of great character development, and funny as hell...
Zach Johnson, P.I. receives a mysterious visit from a flaxen haired woman who warns him not to come after her. As it turns out, the government then tries to hire Zach to find a missing and extremely powerful psi, named Natasha. This will be Zach's toughest assignment yet, as Natasha is the most powerful being on the planet, able to kill a multitude of people with barely a thought. But the government has been keeping secrets. And Zach will have to make a tough decision between Natasha's freedom and the safety of the people of Earth.

Once again, Zach Johnson is back on a wild and crazy adventure with even more eccentric characters. The Flaxen Femme Fatale was pure fun, from beginning to end. Combining clever humor, classic noir, and futuristic science fiction, this latest installment of Zakour's Hair Color series is even better than the previous. I couldn't put this one down. Wonderfully colorful characters, a couple big surprises, and lots of laughs - science fiction fans shouldn't miss this new release.
It is after 2070 on Earth and the only remaining independent private investigator is Zachary Nixon Johnson, a modern day Marlowe who has been shot many times, tangled with psychos containing psychic powers, and defied the political military power structure. Nothing surprises him so when he wakes up to the vision of a beautiful bimbo Natasha lying in his bed next to him he listens when she warns him "they" will want him to find her; she says "don't".

She appears at his office and repeats the same lines. Six androids grab Zach and take him to General Sandy who wants to hire him find and bring in Natasha. Natasha is a cyborg created by the military with super powers including the ability to kill thousands with her mind. Zach follows her trail across the United States and concludes she is not evil, but others want to use her mind as a weapon of mass destruction. Regardless of his beliefs and feelings, his task is to bring her back to the authorities.

John Zakour has written a serio-comic noir set six plus decades in the future and starring figuratively a Marlowe clone with the addition of HARV the computer in his head and a power weapon up his sleeve. HARV brings humor in a Jack Benny kind of way with his observations on the human condition while also insuring his host does not get them killed. The carrying out of the assignment is fun to follow as readers will enjoy the latest misadventures of the last private sleuth.

Zach Johnson is back with another case, whether he wants to be or not. Our favorite noir futuristic PI is more-or-less forced into tracking down Natasha, a pale blonde (real men don't use the word flaxen) knockout. Natasha's deal is that she is a genetic clone of Zach's powerful psi-secretary with a few tweaks and 'upgrades' making her the most dangerous weapon on the planet that can kill with a simple thought. Unfortunately, this happens when she gets mad. So, armed with HARV, the computer attached to his brain, and GUS, his super powerful sidearm, Zach must track down Natasha before she destroys everyone. Along the way, Zach learns a few hidden secrets about himself and HARV that even he didn't know. Toss in some appearances by past super-babes and you have another humor and action filled stories. The problem is, it may have went on just one chase too many in this story. Otherwise, another great entry by John Zakour.
Zach is the last freelance P.I. on Earth and has faced many superwomen in his career, which often comes with saving the world. However, none of those powerful women can hold a candle to Natasha. Built by the army and intended as the ultimate weapon, Natasha can kill a person just by using her mental powers. Unfortunately, people can also drop dead if Natasha loses her temper. Zach is ordered to track Natasha when she disappears and bring her back to her safe environment, but as the chase progresses Zach starts to wonder who really are the good guys in the big picture.

Zakour is amazing at writing witty dialogues. The interaction between Zach, HARV and GUS is hilarious and the mystery adds up to make the book a compelling reading. As the action never stops, this book doesn't have a dull moment and the funny/interesting characters keep coming. I hope we see a little more of Zach's mother-in-law in the next books. Another great book to an awesome series!
