While standing at the altar, about to marry a handsome, charming, and successful attorney, Ashley Braxton catches a shared look between her betrothed and her maid of honor—one which tells her she can’t go through with the ceremony. And when she’s crying in the bridal room of the church, trying to figure out where it all went wrong, she has an epiphany. Ashley realizes that she’s been the consummate pushover her entire life, and now she’s living a life for everyone but herself.

Jessie, Ashley’s carefree friend from college, tells Ashley that she can have any life she wants. All she has to do is manifest it. Ridiculous, Ashley thinks, and not understanding the power of manifestation, she blurts out her dream life to a couple of strangers in an elevator. Thinking nothing of it, Ashley carries on with the life she doesn’t want. But soon her checklist of wishes begins to come true, starting with her dream guy. Could manifestation really work? Could she have the life she’s always dreamed of having?

Ashley begins to believe that she can, giving her the courage to take control of her life, but just as she does, her ex shows up and tries to ruin it all. Will she give up and remain the consummate pushover forever or will she stay strong and fight for her dreams and desires?

It's the typical cheesy plot that would be much cuter had the main character not been as contradictory. On one hand she claims she doesn't care about wealth for her or her spouse, she just wants to be happy. On the other she dreams of getting married in Vera Wang, drives a mercedes (why not just say she got into her "car" instead of "she got into her mercedes") and constantly comments on her guy's muscles. She just seems too shallow to be the good person they try to make her into. Some parts of the story are very easy to relate to - confusion with love, overthinking situations, etc, but to me it was just too contradictory. Overall a very easy read, but I enjoyed "My big fake Irish life" from the author much better.

Again, for $.99 you can't go wrong and this one didn't have any typos either! Cute story about postulates and the fact that one creates their own reality by bringing things or people, into existence. Which is absolutely true even if not quite as instantaneous as what happens in this cute chick- lit ad
I like this author's writing. The one complaint I have is the unnecessary sex scene. Just like comedians don't need f-bombs to be funny, romance writers don't next gratuitous sex scenes to tell a good story. Ms. McKenna is a good story teller, I look forward to reading more of her work.
I enjoyed this book very much! I found Ashley's segue from her ex-best friend who cheated with her fiance to Jessie, an friend for much longer who ends up being Ashley's motivator. I liked the fact that Ashley was given time to develop her new, more mature self before Mr. Right Now manifests into Mr. Right. I read this after I loved My Big Fake Irish Life, also by McKenna, and I will be looking for more from her. Good reading!
I definitely enjoyed the characters in this story, but if ,you're looking for a true to life narrative, this isn't for you. If you're willing to simply relax and enjoy a story that's often quite witty, with a bit of worthy food for thought, and can forgive the occasional lapse into somewhat strangely juvenile dialogue, then give it a go. The price is great and I'll read another of her novels. The manifesting idea is a good one.
An excellent holiday read with a beautiful messgae. A love story climaxing in an unrealistic ending. But I am sure that was the authors point.
Good humour and dilemmas throughout will keep the reader turning pages.
A unique concept for a book and a thoroughly enjoyable read.
5 stars and more. Caitlin Mckenna .. you are an adorable writer and your characters are adorable too. Simply loved LOVED this book and am now reading My Big Fake Irish Life and am loving it too. Funny and lovable and so so true to life. Keeping me away from watching my usual soaps and movies.
I really enjoyed the book, but I have to say their are some down sides. I think their was way to much over the Eric plot. First with him keep chasing Ashley and making her feel less of a person. Only good enough to help him climb the corporate ladder. And her parents falling on deaf ears. I think that was basically pushed almost through the whole book. Until the last few chapters. I also feel the story ended way to soon. And took to long to bring back Vaughn. Actually their was more on Ashley and Eric than. Ashley and Vaughn. And just when they started to get somewhere it was cut to short. The book is amusing. And a good read for a rainy day. Or if its to cold to head out doors. Maybe even lounging on a beach. I did find humor in the story and was priced. At good cost. Would I read this book again? Probably. Because I really liked Ashley and I can't help but want to cheer her on. She was like a little caterpillar escaping her cocoon. And emerge into a beautiful butterfly.
