Tae wants to free Loki so he can help her locate her kidnapped brother and mother. This is an intense story with many characters with special talents ... some talents which will destroy people. I have to say this author is very creative and keeps the reader intensely reading. There are lots of surprises in this well-written novel of suspense and action.

Wonderful read for a sci-fi novel. The Tae character was well developed and presented some surprises that deviated from what I expected. I look forward to the sequel!
The author has the mix just right. Just enough background and just enough action kept this reader turning pages. I will be purchasing the next book with great anticipation of a great read.
Really really enjoyed this one. I love mythology, history and fantasy so win win win. I like to read Aussie writers so that's a tick as well. The story line was well developed with lots of twists and turns all building to the big finale. I actually couldn't put it down and stayed up late to just read a little more. There was a good array of characters, lots of scenic moments I could relate to from my travels. The storyline was creative and unique in its treatment of the traditional " a search, good vs evil, beings with magic etc"
Great opening book for the trilogy.
One of the best books I have read in along time. The author managed to capture humor amid all of the angst, horror, and tragedy. I am totally entranced with the way she wrote about the gods. Having gods from so many different beliefs made it even better. The main character is well developed and very easy to 'see'.
Fresh, imaginative, action packed, well thought out plot with beautiful character development. Science fiction, adventure, fantasy, coming of age story with lots of heroes. Great read for young adults or for adults - enjoy. While part of a trilogy, it stands alone as a complete story; but yes...you want more.
If you want a different story to enjoy this is the book! I think I will look for similar books. It's so nice to read a book that is a 5 star book. So refreshing! I'm reading the third book now. I couldn't put book 1 or 2 down. One of the best series I have read in a long time.
This book was a cliffhanger, but a really good one that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. I went to bed, about halfway through the book, but because I couldn't put the book down, and needed to find out what was going to happen, I had to get up after struggling for 3 hours to sleep because I was so into the book. I finished it 2 hours later, just as the sun was coming up. I can't wait to read the two sequels to the book. I know they aren't going to disappoint me.
