Well organized and easy to read. The first chapter is a summary chart of each of the chapters to come. This chart introduces all of the concepts up front, and then provides a nice reference to return to as you dig into each chapter. I'm no math scholar, and algebra is what I remember from school and still use.. but that's all I needed. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to actually understand what relativity is all about!

I began this book with some trepidation, not having a background in physics or metaphysics, but since the book's terminology can by understood by an average high school student I was able to keep up with the help of illustrations and recurring catch phrases, e.g., "moving clocks run slow." I appreciated the history behind some of the concepts and their development. This is not a book, however, in which one can skip chapters.

Best of all, the book clarifies for me some of the dialogue between Doc Brown and Marty!
In consideration of purchasing this book, I used the "Look Inside" feature here on to check out the contents. It disturbs me that there is an entire chapter devoted to science and religion, and especially concerns me to see a section in this chapter called "God's DNA." A few more clicks brought me to the actual text within this chapter and, within here, the author capitalizes words like "Creation" throughout. Isn't this supposed to be a science book on relativity? If so, then leave religion and gods out for neither have a place within such a book, despite your personal beliefs.

Beyond the silly and unnecessary religious inclusions, the book's formatting looks terrible. Did the author use Word or some other inferior word editing program? The diagrams also look rather cartoonish, child-like, and poorly drawn overall. Could it be the word editing program? Perhaps, if the author were writing for middle-schoolers, the diagrams might be appropriate.

On second thought, I wouldn't give this book to any school-aged child, or any adult for that matter. If the author gets rid of the religious references, then maybe this book would be good enough for kids in middle-school. If the author also uses a better word editing program (e.g., LaTeX) and improves the diagrams, then I could see possibly recommending this book to high-school students.

But inserting religion in a science book where it does not belong is the height of irresponsibility, throws serious doubts on the author's intentions and, unfortunately, undermines his scientific credibility.
Worth reading even if you are familiar with the topic.
I seriously felt smarter with every page I turned. Physics always alluded me. This book is well organized, and explains the Theory of Relativity (and MANY related forces) in a manner that allows the non-scientist to digest and understand. As an educator with thirty years experience, I am impressed with this authors understanding of how knowledge needs to be broken down, and hooked to prior knowledge in order to be mastered. And one more thing... his wife's appendixes is excellent!
