This book wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it was still pretty great. I'll spare you the plot line, but I honestly didn't care for the plot nearly as much as I cared for the main character. She was awesome. She reminded me of myself when I was in high school, and I think that's why I liked the book so much. As I'm a writer myself, I found a lot of similarities in this book compared to my own writing. This wasn't a surprise, since the author is nearly my age and this is her first book.

I loved the characters, I loved that it's a teenage fiction book that actually includes family, and I love the idea behind the plot: a rich boy and a poor girl. Yes, it was predictable, but I liked it either way. I wasn't fond of the way it ended. Not giving anything away, I felt she tied things up way too quickly and she could have added more. There were also some things that happened that I felt weren't very realistic. It was just a bit "too" perfect of an ending. I also thought the "creature" was way too overdone and unrealistic. She wasn't her own character, rather a complete stereotype. All in all, it was a cheap and quick read that I don't regret. I'll have to keep an eye out for more books by this author.

His Eyes Renee Carter 9781432742133 Books Reviews

I'm not entirely sure why so many people are bashing this book for no reasonable reason. All I have to say is if you don't like it, don't finish it and don't give a pointless review without constructive criticism.

Let me start out by saying that I hate romance. With a passion. I think it's dumb and pointless to read about someone else's love/sex life and problems because life is full of its own. But this book is NOTHING like that.

I for one loved this book. I devoured it in under four hours. From start to finish. No, this is not a change your life introspective novel. This is a sweet and loving example of what true love really is. I especially like this novel because it deals with the positive side of people, not the negative beastly side that so many people are focused on. Even the ex who shows up is talked about in a light sarcastic way. Amy speaks with such a light air and with such a unique way of looking at the world around her that the book is fun to read. You want to know what she'll think of the next situation. Tristan is one of the most real characters in a book I've read because he is so terribly, painfully flawed that he could be the boy down the road. And yet the love between them, even the interactions, are so gentle and beautiful that I couldn't help but want to have more. I wanted to read about them going to college together.

This book is especially endearing because once Amy and Tristan are aware of each other's feelings, the book doesn't fall apart. Many "romance" books completely lose themselves once the characters "hook up". Amy and Tristan are believable. They could be anyone you see on the street. And this book reminds you that love is first and foremost a pure thing and that anything that makes it any other way is a destructive thing.

This is the second of the only two books I like enough to ensure my future husband and I will read together. It is a high honor and this book deserves its spot among that list. Love without lust is attainable, and this book reminds you of it. Masterfully told and shared, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a pick-me-up in life regardless of age, gender, or marital status.
This book is predictable. You know that from some of the reviews, and you can guess it from the subject matter. You know exactly where this book is headed, and that's just fine, because we want the characters in our books to have a happy ending, just as we want our own. What I didn't expect was how great getting to the destination would be.

I was surprised that this book showed up in my Recommended list, because I really don't read romance novels. I'm a paranormal kind of guy. I've read a few stories that could be classified as "paranormal romance", so I guess that's how this one got picked up. I'm really glad it did.

Imagine what your world would be like, if right before you began your bright future, you went blind. Imagine never seeing a new face again. Imaging never doing the things you loved again. Imagine your friends shunning you because they can't deal with your new disability. This is what happens to Zach at the beginning of the novel. He's a college-bound high school senior blessed with tons of money, who in the course of one year loses his father, his girlfriend and then his sight. His outlook on the world is, to be honest, quite bleak. He is bitter, and who wouldn't be in his situation? And what good is money if you can't enjoy your life? Well...it lets your mother hire another high school senior, Amy, for a ridiculous hourly rate to "babysit" him. But what his mother really wants is for someone his age to draw him out of the room in which he's locked himself and learn to live with his new situation.

I liked these characters. I like the way they thought, I liked the way they spoke, and I liked the way they acted - even when they did things I really thought they shouldn't do. Zach's losses were conveyed effectively, and heart-wrenchingly so. Amy's confusion of how she should feel for her "boss", from a totally different economic and social background, is conveyed excellently. And the supporting cast is pretty awesome too - especially Amy's over-the-top hippie mother and long-absent brother. And I will be totally honest with you - even though Zach's ex-girlfriend was pretty hot, I took sadistic pleasure in watching her crash and burn without a clue to the damage she left behind.

The last 15 pages made me want to stand up and cheer. It makes you want to believe that you can conquer any adversity with the help of a loving partner (and not an "assistant"). And you somehow get the feeling that these two are together for life. Just pick it up and read it. It isn't expensive, it isn't long (unfortunately) - it's just good.

One pet peeve, though - why does the male main character in almost every book have piercing blue or green eyes? Some of us brown-eyed guys are pretty cute too. Hey authors - give us our time in the sun!
